I've been tasked with finding a way to grab certain metric information out of WebSphere and WebLogic. It appears that there are two methods to do this: a) drop a java process on the server to hit up the exposed api's, or b) use SNMP to access JMX to get the info remotely.

Sadly, I'm a windows c++ developer, and this is seriously outside my knowledge box. I lean towards (b), as it seems the system that a number of commercial applications utilize, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Visual C++ has a SMNP library, and I'd think that once I'm connected to that, I can find my way to JMX, and then to the J2EE metrics, but I'm having a wretched time finding any info on that path.

Anyone? Shawn? Shayde? Beuller? Beuller?

Question: "Care to unravel more mental and emotional mazes with me? In the purely physical fuck-urge give & take context of course :)"

I'd be glad to, but it's been shown I'm not always a nice guy. If that's cool, then sure!

Har, first question: "Are there any dreams, big or small, that you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?"

These are the first things off the top of my head:

I want to get to the position where I can at least help all my children get a college education. I know that there's little chance I can put the through myself, but I want to be able to give them a hand. Also? Have a better grip on how to actually get through college.

Second, I want a motorcycle.

On the whole, though, life is pretty damned satisfying.

So one of the radio stations I listen to does "eclectic lunches", and today's theme was hobbies. I called and asked for "Master and Servant" and then told her to guess my hobby. She burst into laughter.

Well, she played my phone call (and her laughter) on the air, but not the song. I'd call that a limited win.

Heh.

Eleven years ago my lovely wife agreed, in front of witnesses, to spend the rest of our lives together. There was family, there were friends, and there were thousands of cicadas.

There was also a harpist playing the peanuts theme, in a kilt.

"Start, as you plan on continuing", or something like that.

We still have our family, our friends (though sometimes those lines get fuzzy), and somehow the perfect soundtrack wafting in from the background.

Four children, four jobs, two houses, brief dark times, amazingly consistent good times, and a never ending belief that I was both extremely lucky and extremely wise in snatching her up. This is the life that I had always dreamed of having, and never believed that I would actually have.

Eleven years. Not a bad start.

Someone once told me that after you die, you are greeted on the other side by those people whose funeral you attended. If this is true, then when I get there, Caitlin will already have the camp laid out, her pavilion up, and be lounging in her comfy chair, waiting patiently for the rest of us. I can't tell you how much I want to believe that.

I mourn her, and all the things that didn’t get created because she’s not here to create them, all the things that didn’t get taught because she didn’t get a chance to teach them, all the people who no longer get to see her smile, enjoy her hug, feel her love.

I celebrate her full life, and an ending that included a house full of people that loved her, and whom she loved. It was a life well worth living.

We just had a pet tank Onyxia.

Since pets don't get knocked back, positioning was trivial, aggro was massive, and deaths were few. Transition from phase three was flawless.

In other news, in my first successful foray into bwl, I got to tank vael and bloodlord, and got my first wrath (the belt, which rocks).

Sleep now.
