On the face of it, I agree with you. It does strike me as a "Wha?" situation. Particularly with the caveat of "No gay stuff" most of them seem to put down.
But then I consider what they would say about our proclivities.
Then I thought about it more, about how the activity could be "not gay" and what sort of mindset would be required for that, and I guess I can see how it could be some sort of male bonding activity, sharing something that is typically "male" in its expression, etc, etc, etc. Which then sparks thoughts about the interesting perception/comfort people take in camraderie in all its forms...
Then I realized I was really putting too much thought it in it.
