I just received my email copy of a comment made June 9th in my journal.

In my Hotmail account.

Which is no longer the recipient of LJ comments.

Huh.

okay, just checked my gmail account. A whole shitload of comments has apparently been *processed*. Someone forgot to drink their prune juice every morning.

Yeah, I've gotten a dozen or so that are out of date, myself.

Ditto - like LJ belched or something. Funny thing is i don't think i got these comments when they were new. So they were lost in the ether for 2 month's.

For a long time people weren't getting half of their comments.. like I would get replies to comments I left elsewhere, but I never got the replies to my posts. LJ actually put out a statement saying that they knew what the problem was, that emails were getting "sent somewhere that isn't your mailbox" (my guess would be randomly spooling) and that they'd be fixing it and the old comments would start showing up.

Yep -- same here. Usually this happens when some messages get stuck in the mail queue and no one notices for a while, then someone fixes the problem and the messages finally get sent.

There's a standing debate among sysadmins as to whether to let them get delivered (and risk confusing people) or delete them (since the people waiting for them have probably given up waiting). My feeling is, let 'em fly. If people haven't gotten used to the peculiarities of email by now, there's nothing I can do for them.

so you have gmail? do you like it?? a friend of mine said he's got some invites if i want to use them... and i'm debating.
changing email is such a pain in the ass, i don't know that i want to do it. i can't decide... i've got too many emails anyway. but at least it keeps my nilla away from the nonnilla...
but still changing is a pain....

I like it so far, but I was pretty willing to move just for the huge amount of storage space. I haven't really stuck my toes into the wacky features yet, but I'm pretty sure they're just nifty.
