In what universe is jacking off with another guy not "gay stuff"?
In the same universe where watching Football isn't gay. Or wrestling isn't gay. Or running together to the point of "endorphin high".
Once you remove the sexual preconception off the act of masturbating, it is pretty easy to see how it can be "not gay." So, if masturbating is what you do when you don't have sex, then by extension it could be a non-sexual activity in itself.
Which helps to explain the male teen activity of "jerk off circles" as a form of competition/bonding.
Note: I'm not saying I share this perception, as I perceive masturbation to be a result of sex-drive. Just sharing that I can understand the mind-set
