[geekery] laptop woes
Nov. 22nd, 2004 11:13 ammy laptop seems to be getting more and more confused about the entire "network" concept. First, it occasionally decided that my lan cable wasn't actually plugged in, but that was alright, as the wireless would keep me connected.
Then, annoyingly, when it thought I was unplugged, it would stop processing the wireless, too.
Now, the cable is up and down more often than a dockside harlot, taking the wireless along like one of those stupid little dogs some women carry around in their purses. Urgh. Needless to say, some of the applications I need to work don't actually thrive in this environment.
And now, working at home, where there has _never_ been a cable plugged into the laptop, it has started to telling me that it's up at running off the network cable at 100mbs.
Which is _really_ funny, since the network cable is 10mbs at work, so how did it know that my home network is 100mbs?
Time to upgrade to sp2, find the newest drivers, and then start mucking with the hardware.
Bah.
