[sports update!]

She won! Woo-hooo! During the exhibition match yesterday she pinned a boy from the other team. Sadly, neither MLW nor I could make it to the match, so we didn't see it. *sigh*. So, in three matches, she's gone from being pinned to losing on points after three rounds to pinning the opponent. (she also said the hardest part was putting her face into his side, cause, apparently, he had no concept of personal hygiene.)

On the negative side, she said that the opposing coach wouldn't shake her hand, and the boy was incredibly dejected 'cause he lost to a girl. And then when she got home to her other house (that split custody thing), she ran downstairs to tell her step mom that she won, she was told "girls shouldn't wrestle." Argh.Damn argh.

She's bouncing high, though, and it's way cool. I think winning has put a whole new face on the whole "damn this is hard work" and "damn it's hard fighting social peer pressure" thing.

I wonder if she's gonna follow this up in high school?

I think someone should send a note to the principal of the opposing school about the whole no-handshake thing. Because that's just shitty.

Tell our gal she rocks, and that it's not inappropriate for girls to wrestle... it's just inappropriate for them to wrestle poorly.

Bwa-ha-ha!

A and I had a great talk Friday night for a couple of hours. One of the things that came up was the huge impact you and Alex and Rhy and Mac had on her growing up. Strong intelligent women that enjoy their lives.

Let's hear it for the next generation.

I'm seriously thinking about putting that on a t-shirt for her.

Dude, I'm serious, if you make me cry I'll smack you. :)

Hug her for me.. and tell her anytime she needs reinforcement on what kinds of things are "appropriate" for girls to do she should count how many of her female household members have their own swords. (I'm up to three so far... Cait and I have fencing swords and Courtney's got all those wooden smacky ones) I think no matter what you might call us, unfeminine is not one of them.
